Joe Hrudka Announces Support of Project 1320
November 16, 2009 - For Immediate Release
The following is a statement from Joe Hrudka, co-founder of the Mr. Gasket Company.
Most of you who know me or know about me think of me as the founder of several successful companies, but I would like to remind you that I got my start
as a drag racer which is one of the main reasons I have followed the developments regarding the efforts of PROJECT 1320 to document the history of the
sport of drag racing and the performance industry for the past several months. I have been very quiet about this, but have kept a close eye on it, and
frankly I think itís about time someone is finally doing it.
During my recent visit to the SEMA Show, I was impressed with the response to the PROJECT 1320 effort and the people that are behind it. I now feel it is
time to publicly state my support.
This is an undertaking which should have been done years ago. I particularly like the idea of using our surviving legends of the sport and the industry to tell
the story of how we grew and prospered. I also like the idea to cover as many of the pioneers as possible not just a few of the super stars, remembering the sport
originated out of love and passion, not for fame and money.
I and many of my friends are concerned that if we lose the history of the pioneers, and their passion, then we, along with future generations, could face an
unpleasant future where drag racing and the industry it built may go into decline and eventually go away. If we document how we, by trial and error, succeeded
beyond our dreams, future generations will have an opportunity to capitalize on these dreams and be able to keep them alive and growing.
In conclusion, I want to encourage everyone, in his or her own way, as a private person or a company, to get behind this important project ‚ before it is too late,
and we lose those voices of our past and the future history makers.
Joe Hrudka, Phoenix, Az.
