Prestolite
Performance Announces Support for Project 1320
April
09 , 2010 - For Immediate Release
The Quarter Mile Entertainment Foundation (QMEF), producers
of the PROJECT 1320 documentary films series about the birth
and growth of drag racing, is pleased to announce Prestolite
Performance has become the latest performance aftermarket
company to provide financial support for the documentary
series.
Prestolite Performance has been highly interested in the
PROJECT 1320 undertaking from the inception. The announcement
the company’s participation as a sponsor brings two
of the industry’s foundation and iconic brand names,
Mr. Gasket and Mallory, supporting the undertaking.
“This announcement, for obvious reasons, means a great
deal to me,” said Traci Hrudka, Chairman of the Foundation.
“The generous support of Prestolite Performance, and
the use of the Mr. Gasket and Mallory names to headline
that support, means a great deal to the Foundation and the
project.
“Since the company is so tied to my father, Tom, and
my Uncle Joe, this means so much to me, personally. The
Mr. Gasket and Mallory names have been such a great part
of the drag racing scene over so many years, and a part
of the successes of so many of the legends of the sport.”
Bob Bruegging, President of Prestolite Performance, observed,
“I have been fascinated by the fact that combined
the Mallory and Mr. Gasket brands have been providing performance
products for 130 years! From Pomona to Indianapolis –
and every other drag strip in this country – and a
few outside this country – these companies and their
employees have been part of the proud tradition which is
‘SPEED.’
“At one of the first drag races I attended after joining
the Mr. Gasket Company back in 1993 I was given a piston
from Eddie Hill when he broke the 5 second mark –
and ran a 4.77 at Pomona! Still got that piston autographed
by Eddie in my office! And, I still have a photo of Traci
introducing me to John Force at Indianapolis that same year
– at least I think that’s us – we look
a little younger!”
Ms. Hrudka added, “It will be through the support
of companies like Prestolite Performance and its’
Mr. Gasket and Mallory brands, which will assure that the
history of the sport and the performance aftermarket it
helped build, will be preserved, using the first-person
narratives of those who helped make both what they are today.”
“We knew from the first time Traci told us about the
program that we were ‘all in,’” said Bruegging.
“Drag Racing and its participants have given much
to us – we are humbled to give something back.”
The Quarter Mile Entertainment Foundation is a 501(c)(3)public,
not-for-profit educational charity foundation, which is
producing PROJECT 1320, a documentary film series about
the history of drag racing and the parallel growth of the
performance automotive aftermarket.
